Successful Bangkok conference
An ExxonMobil delegation led by Chairman & Managing Director of Esso (Thailand) PCL. Jeremy R. Osterstock connected with Association of Southeast Asian Nation country ministers, policymakers and customers at the 37th ASEAN Energy Business Forum in Bangkok during September. The Thailand Ministry of Energy hosted the forum for government and industry leaders from all 10 ASEAN member states and more than 500 international delegates.
In his industry keynote address, Irtiza Sayyed, President of ExxonMobil LNG Market Development Inc., discussed Southeast Asia’s gas and LNG outlook within a global context. “Natural gas energy gives us a significant advantage in applying workable global solutions to the dual challenge of providing affordable energy while reducing environmental impacts,” he said.
“It is abundant worldwide, available at scale and produces up to 60 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than coal. It also enables broader penetration of renewables into the energy mix, providing responsive and reliable energy to balance the intermittency of renewables.”
Sayyed stressed that “with policies that support open markets and a level playing field, we can deploy natural gas resources in Southeast Asia and around the globe for the benefit of individuals, countries and the future.” ExxonMobil was delighted to support the forum as a Principal Sponsor and luncheon host.
