ExxonMobil LNG is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the LNG and broader energy community, and this commitment was brought to fruition through the development of the Power Play Initiative and the Power Play Awards.
This year, we are proud to share that ExxonMobil LNG’s hard work and dedication to this initiative and awards programme was recognized during Gastech 2021 when the company received the Organisation Championing Diversity & Inclusion Award.
Each year, Gastech provides this award to an organisation that not only encourages and promotes workplace inclusivity but that has a proven track record of implementing and driving genuine change through improved processes, career and talent development, and by actively flagging issues around the equalising of opportunity regardless of gender, disability, sexual orientation or background. The recipient of this award truly helps shape a diverse and inclusive energy industry for the future that allows talent from all areas of society to achieve their potential.
Entries were judged based on four criteria – proactive outreach, tangible impact, results-driven effectiveness and legacy in D&I.
“When we first launched the Power Play Initiative and awards programme, we hoped they would help us shine a light on and recognize the powerful women we work with in the industry on a daily basis, but we only dreamed we’d be where we are now,” said Tracy Lothian, Vice President Marketing, Finance & Commercial Development, Low Carbon Solutions at ExxonMobil. “The men and women participating and being honoured through these programmes are truly the best of the best from all areas of the industry, networking and sharing insight in a way they might not have before.”
Launched in 2016, Power Play was created to connect women and men from across the LNG value chain that support a more diverse and inclusive energy future, with a vision that greater collaboration leads to increased partnerships, innovation and business results. Three years later, we announced the Power Play Awards as a way to recognize and showcase the remarkable achievements of women in the industry. Over the years, we’ve seen an exponential growth in the number of champions and supporters, further cementing the idea that diversity isn’t just a want, it’s a need in the industry.
The 2021 Organisation Championing Diversity & Inclusion Award was presented during the Gastech event on 20 September, 2021. Other notable award nominees were Chart Industries, Sempra LNG and GNA.
